Suspicious device causes concern

The Delaware County Bomb Squad blew up a suspicious package outside the Grant County Jail in downtown Marion Friday afternoon. Someone discovered the beeping box outside the jail and notified authorities. The area was evacuated as sandbags were placed around the box. It was then blown up. Investigators say it was likely a cell phone beeping as it lost power.

WLBC LAND SOLDIER KILLED IN IRAQ
09.09.10A soldier from Wells County has been killed in a firefight in Iraq. 26-year old Phillip Jenkins of Decatur was part of a security operation at an Iraqi army base when an Iraqi soldier opened fire on the Americans. Jenkins and another soldier were killed, and several others were wounded.
