As many as 58 Marion teachers may find themselves without jobs. School superintendent Jeff Hendrix proposed the cuts at Wednesday’s school board meeting. He claims the cuts are essential, due to the deterioriating condition of Marion school finances. Final action on the cuts is expected at the January 9th board meeting. The cuts would save the school system about $1 million. However, the current budget deficit in the 2008 budget is nearly $5 million.
