An unidentified out of state technology company could bring hundreds of jobs to Muncie. Up to 350 jobs could be created, with pay rates as much as $50,000 according to officials. Terry Murphy of the Economic Development Alliance declined to provide more specific details. It’s thought that Muncie’s recent listing in surveys of low cost residential housing might have been a factor in getting the unnamed company to look at the city.

A soldier from Wells County has been killed in a firefight in Iraq. 26-year old Phillip Jenkins of Decatur was part of a security operation at an Iraqi army base when an Iraqi soldier opened fire on the Americans. Jenkins and another soldier were killed, and several others were wounded.
