Police jailed a partner in the New Castle Bella Vita restaurant Thursday on check deception accusations from Nevada totaling $44,775. Henri Najem, a partner with Indianapolis investor Tim Durham, was booked into Henry County Jail where he awaits extradition. Zadrowski said Najem, who lives in McCordsville, allegedly wrote nine checks for $5,000 at one or more casinos to obtain “casino markers,” a form of gambling credit.

Indiana’s unemployment rate for January is 9-point-7 percent, the same as the revised numbers for December. State department of workforce development commissioner Teresa Voors says the rate “appears to be holding relatively stable based on the slowing of job losses.” Indiana continues to have the lowest unemployment rate among neighboring states.
