Alexandria’s City Council has postponed a vote on whether to increase the county option income tax, which was to have been voted on at yesterdays meeting. A change to the state budget has allowed Alexandria a few extra months to make that decision. The new deadline is November 1st. The tax would help fill the city replace money that was lost by property tax caps. The average family would pay almost an extra 100 dollars in additional taxes a year if passed.
