Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson has warned the public to be on guard against a telephone scammer impersonating a sheriff’s department deputy. Saturday, the scammer called from a restricted phone and said he needed to verify credit card information to see if the person was a victim – but he was talking to a reserve officer with the sheriff’s department. Anyone who has been targeted by this scam or similar scams has been asked to call Madison County Dispatch at 642-0221.

After a month of protests, walkouts and bitter debate, Indiana will become the 23rd right-to-work state. The Senate gave final approval to right-to-work 28-22, unchanged from the first vote on the bill last month. Governor Daniels signed the bill into law about three hours after the senate vote.
A man was killed Wednesday night in a one-vehicle accident along Ind. 3 in southern Delaware County.
