Blog check – Doug Zaleski posted on Saturday that San Diego State is in the process of hiring a new athletic director to replace Jeff Schemmel – the AD who hired former Ball State coach Brady Hoke. The NFL Chargers might leave San Diego. If they do, the city wouldn’t maintain Qualcomm Stadium – where the Aztecs also play, and if that were the case, San Diego State would have no place to play football, and likely would drop the sport.

It’s Groundhog Day and at 7:25 a.m., Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. According to lore, we’ll get six more weeks of winter. A side note: Punxsutawney Phil has a 39% accuracy rate.
After a month of protests, walkouts and bitter debate, Indiana will become the 23rd right-to-work state. The Senate gave final approval to right-to-work 28-22, unchanged from the first vote on the bill last month. Governor Daniels signed the bill into law about three hours after the senate vote.
A man was killed Wednesday night in a one-vehicle accident along Ind. 3 in southern Delaware County.
