November Set Records For Home Sales

Home resales surged last month to the highest level in nearly three years. Buyers were racing to complete their sales before the original expiration date of tax credit for first-time buyers that was scheduled to expire November 30th. Last month, congress decided to extend and expand the credit to ensure the housing market could sustain its recovery. First-time buyers made up about half of all transaction last month, driving sales up 44 percent above last years levels, a record jump.

January Unemployment Rate Out
11.03.10Indiana’s unemployment rate for January is 9-point-7 percent, the same as the revised numbers for December. State department of workforce development commissioner Teresa Voors says the rate “appears to be holding relatively stable based on the slowing of job losses.” Indiana continues to have the lowest unemployment rate among neighboring states.
