More cost reductions may be imminent for local school districts. Gov. Mitch Daniels has said he plans to cut $300 million from the state’s education budget over the next 18 months. Local school districts have not yet been provided financial forecasts indicating what the cost-cutting measures could mean for their schools. In Anderson, news of further cuts to education come on the heels of decisions to close four additional elementary schools and one high school.

After a month of protests, walkouts and bitter debate, Indiana will become the 23rd right-to-work state. The Senate gave final approval to right-to-work 28-22, unchanged from the first vote on the bill last month. Governor Daniels signed the bill into law about three hours after the senate vote.
A man was killed Wednesday night in a one-vehicle accident along Ind. 3 in southern Delaware County.
