An event for girls in grades 6-12 will feature activities, vendors and speakers on Saturday at the Ritz Charles. The event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is called “Just Girls” from Fashion to Rocket Science. Among the guest speakers is Bridget Sloan, a 2009 world champion gymnast from Pittsboro. Kelly Greene, a TV meteorologist from Fort Wayne, also is expected to appear. There will also be representatives from Space Camp; Girls with Wings, a group sponsoring women in aviation; and a Carmel Police canine demonstration. The cost is $5 at the door. The proceeds will benefit Carmel Clay Public Library.

After a month of protests, walkouts and bitter debate, Indiana will become the 23rd right-to-work state. The Senate gave final approval to right-to-work 28-22, unchanged from the first vote on the bill last month. Governor Daniels signed the bill into law about three hours after the senate vote.
A man was killed Wednesday night in a one-vehicle accident along Ind. 3 in southern Delaware County. The victim — whose name had not been released late Wednesday pending notification of relatives — was pronounced dead at the scene by Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn.
