An October 7 trial date has been set for two Muncie women police say conspired to hinder their investigation of a child’s death. 43-year old Tina Byrd and her daughter, 19-year old Kassandra Byrd, are charged in the death of four-month old Matthew Cheng. The mother faces a neglect of a dependent charge, while both women face conspiracy charges for allegedly lying to police about what happened the day the boy died in the Byrd home.
