HEROISM LEADS TO POSSIBLE FINE

Two volunteer firefighters who risked their lives to try to save two other men earlier this year violated state occupational safety and health regulations. The Liberty Township Fire Department will have to train its personnel for confined space rescue situations to avoid a $1,500 fine after firefighters Rick Compton, Sr. and Brian Buck went into a well where two men were overcome by fumes—those men later died.
