Last week we reported that SR 13 through Elwood was shut down because of an unsafe building. Fortunately, no one was injured when a portion of the façade of that building gave way during the weekend storms. Mayor Ron Arnold says an inspection of the building found the structure was sound, but repairs are needed. The building was constructed in 1934 and once housed the Leeson department store. There is currently a furniture store in the building.

Contractors moved barrels and barricades along interstate work sites Friday to help accommodate Memorial Weekend traffic. The Indiana Department of Transportation mandated that there be no work in construction zones over the holiday weekend and Indiana State Police will be closely monitoring those sites.
