Three men facing charges stemming from the alleged sale of bath salts in local convenience stores tried to persuade Judge Thomas Cannon Jr. to reduce their bonds on Monday. Local attorney Mark McKinney asked the judge to release Lucky Singh, Monty Singh and Harwinder Kumar on their own recognizance. Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold and Deputy Prosecutor Eric Hoffman objected to the request, suggesting the defendants – all natives of India who allegedly entered the U.S. illegally from Mexico – were flight risks.
Judge Cannon took the requests for bond reductions under advisement.

Contractors moved barrels and barricades along interstate work sites Friday to help accommodate Memorial Weekend traffic. The Indiana Department of Transportation mandated that there be no work in construction zones over the holiday weekend and Indiana State Police will be closely monitoring those sites.
