A Muncie neighborhood is upset over what they say is a massive, thirteen-million dollar, football-field-length, electrical power substation that Indiana & Michigan Power is planning to build near the corner of Tillotson and University avenues. The Kenmore Neighborhood Association says they have no legal means to stop the project, so they are calling on elected officials, Ball State, IU Health Ball Hospital and others to help halt the project. Mayor Dennis Tyler says he, the building commissioner and an engineer will meet on August 23rd “to represent the city’s and the public’s best interests in that area.”

A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide with winds up to 200 mph ripped through the Oklahoma city of Moore Monday. Officials say the death toll is expected to rise while more than 200 are being treated at hospitals.The National Weather Service says the twister was at least an EF4.
