Officials May Build Own Water Treatment Plant

Officials from two rural wastewater districts say they’re considering building a twenty-two-million dollar sewage treatment plant to avoid rate increases imposed by the Muncie Sanitary District. Representatives of the Delaware County Regional Wastewater District and Liberty Regional Wastewater District – in areas north and east of Muncie – attended Monday’s meeting of the Delaware County commissioners and asked for the county’s blessing and possible financial support. Commissioners President Todd Donati said the county “would like to help support” the treatment plant plan, but county officials made no formal commitment on Monday.
