The jury trial for a Pendleton Correctional Facility inmate accused of stabbing another inmate to death is set to begin today in Madison Circuit Court 6. 32-year-old Jeffrey Cook and another inmate were caught by a correctional officer repeatedly stabbing inmate Daniel Dewitt in the chest and upper torso 11 times. Dewitt was transported to Saint John’s Medical Center, but died from his injuries later that day. Jury selection for Cook took place Tuesday, and the trial is expected to begin this morning, with Judge Dennis Carroll presiding.
