A vigilant ambulance driver is credited with helping take a suspected impaired driver off the streets. The alert driver of a Delaware County Emergency Medical Service vehicle saw a car nearly strike two vehicles late Monday evening. The EMS driver turned on emergency lights and the car came to a stop at Martin and Jackson streets. That’s when police stepped in and arrested 36-year-old Jamie Dawn Burnett on drunken driving and drug charges.

Staff Relations Manager Barb Cross says she‘s among numerous Red Cross staffers nationwide on the ground and assessing the needs. Cross says she always feels personally blessed to be able to help those who are in trouble.
