An Anderson man was flown to Indianapolis over the weekend after he accidentally shot himself in his left thigh. 45-year-old Dennis Looper was putting his .45-caliber handgun into his waist holster when it discharged, hitting him in the groin and thigh area.
Looper was able to walk out into the ambulance himself but was transported from Saint John’s Medical Center to an Indianapolis hospital by a StatFlight medical helicopter so the bullet could be removed.
