E.ON Climate and Renewables North America energized the first circuit at its 200-megawatt Wildcat I Wind Farm this week, allowing the project’s first wind turbines to begin generating electricity. 27 of the project’s 125 wind turbines are now fully complete and the remainder should be in place by the end of the year. Elwood Mayor Ron Arnold says the wind farm is the largest economic development project in northern Madison County’s history. Nearly 200 workers have been hired to help build the wind farm project, which is E.ON Climate and Renewables’ 17th wind farm in the U.S.

An 18-year-old Marion man has drowned at the beach area of a state-run park. Witnesses say Jordan Laute of Marion began having trouble after he swam past the roped barrier into deep water at Salamonie Lake Reservoir. Conservation officers using a sonar device found Laute in 9 feet of water nearly three hours later.
The wife of a horse-farm owner was injured early yesterday afternoon after she was trampled. The incident was reported around 12:45 p.m. at Stoney Creek Horse Farm in Henry County.
