Two men were arrested in the middle of the night by Muncie police making a security check at U Save Storage near Old Ind. 3 and Riggin Road. James Harold Hannis III and David Lee Baxter were jailed on numerous drug and theft charges. The men told police they had been hired to clear out an unoccupied house. The owner told police a different story – stating that Baxter was an ex-employee fired six months ago for theft.

A Muncie woman was struck and killed by a moving train late yesterday morning. 51-year-old Shailor L. An 18-year-old Marion man has drowned at the beach area of a state-run park. Witnesses say Jordan Laute of Marion began having trouble after he swam past the roped barrier into deep water at Salamonie Lake Reservoir. Conservation officers using a sonar device found Laute in 9 feet of water nearly three hours later.
The wife of a horse-farm owner was injured early yesterday afternoon after she was trampled. The incident was reported around 12:45 p.m. at Stoney Creek Horse Farm in Henry County.
