Ball State University might not be able to continue to award Academic Recognition Awards to out-of-state minority students after the U.S. Supreme Court issues a ruling in Fisher v. Texas. The court could constitutionally end affirmative action as a public policy in its upcoming ruling, which would affect universities and colleges throughout the country. The award waives the non-resident general fees, meaning recipients pay in-state tuition – a savings of roughly 12-thousand dollars a year.
