The Delaware County Council has approved a request from Sheriff Mike Scroggins for 35 thousand dollars to increase the number of video cameras and add audio coverage to the intake area of the jail. Scroggins says the investment could not only improve the health and safety of the jail’s inmates but also protect the county from lawsuits.

A Muncie woman was struck and killed by a moving train late yesterday morning. 51-year-old Shailor L. An 18-year-old Marion man has drowned at the beach area of a state-run park. Witnesses say Jordan Laute of Marion began having trouble after he swam past the roped barrier into deep water at Salamonie Lake Reservoir. Conservation officers using a sonar device found Laute in 9 feet of water nearly three hours later.
The wife of a horse-farm owner was injured early yesterday afternoon after she was trampled. The incident was reported around 12:45 p.m. at Stoney Creek Horse Farm in Henry County.
