Just minutes into opening statements in the murder trial of Terry Donald Rutledge, the defense asked for a mistrial. The motion, prompted by remarks made by prosecutors over alleged incriminating text messages sent by Rutledge, was denied by Delaware Circuit Court 3 Judge Linda Ralu Wolf. The 24-year-old Muncie man is charged with murder and obstruction of justice in the December 2011 slaying of 40-year-old Tonia Ingram.

Staff Relations Manager Barb Cross says she‘s among numerous Red Cross staffers nationwide on the ground and assessing the needs. Cross says she always feels personally blessed to be able to help those who are in trouble.
