CSX, one of two railroad companies that run trains through Muncie, announced Monday that beginning January 1st, speeds on all of their trains will double from 30 mph to 60 mph. Not so fast, says Mayor Dennis Tyler. The city of Muncie has a 40-mile-an-hour ordinance and he intends to enforce it. Tyler says he will have city attorneys contact the railroad company to notify them of the local ordinance.

Contractors moved barrels and barricades along interstate work sites Friday to help accommodate Memorial Weekend traffic. The Indiana Department of Transportation mandated that there be no work in construction zones over the holiday weekend and Indiana State Police will be closely monitoring those sites.
