An Anderson police officer has been recognized for his actions in an incident that left officers wounded and a bystander and police dog dead. The Madison County Prosecutor’s Office has named APD’s patrol officer Matthew Guthrie its Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Anderson Police Chief Larry Crenshaw says Guthrie’s actions prevented what could have been several more injuries and even deaths.
