Mahan’s DCS Bill Passes Out Of Committee

State Rep. Kevin Mahan of Hartford City has authored a House Bill which addresses staffing needs for the Indiana Department of Child Services. The legislation passed out of the Committee on Family, Children and Human Affairs with a 12-0 vote this week. The bill requires DCS to hire additional employees by Jan. 1, 2014. The bill will now move to the House Ways and Means Committee for further discussion and debate.

Marion Man Drowns In Salimonie Lake Reservoir
18.06.13An 18-year-old Marion man has drowned at the beach area of a state-run park. Witnesses say Jordan Laute of Marion began having trouble after he swam past the roped barrier into deep water at Salamonie Lake Reservoir. Conservation officers using a sonar device found Laute in 9 feet of water nearly three hours later.
Henry County Woman Trampled By Horses
