State police continue to investigate a fatal crash that happened yesterday morning on SB I-69 near Exit 234. Responding crews found a pickup off the right side of the road into some trees. The driver, 61-year-old Charles R. Mace of Dunkirk was flown from the scene by helicopter to St Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis where he later died. His passenger, wife Paulette Mace was taken by ambulance to St Vincent’s where she was treated and released. Police believe a medical incident was a factor in the crash.

Contractors moved barrels and barricades along interstate work sites Friday to help accommodate Memorial Weekend traffic. The Indiana Department of Transportation mandated that there be no work in construction zones over the holiday weekend and Indiana State Police will be closely monitoring those sites.
