A Marion man is in custody after police find a 2-year-old child dead. The mother of the child says she had left her three children in the care of her live-in boyfriend. She returned home to find her baby unresponsive. Police say the child suffered what appeared to be scalding burns covering nearly her entire body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The boyfriend, 27-year-old Donald Riddle, left the house prior to officers’ arrival, but he apprehended early yesterday morning. Riddle is denying any wrong-doing. The case remains under investigation.
