Part of the old Nicholson File plant in Anderson still stands after demolition work ceased last fall, and residents are concerned that the old factory is a hazard to the community. Last summer demolition crews began dismantling structures. Since then however, work stalled and the workers vanished leaving behind very unsafe conditions. The city has been in touch with the Chicago family that owns the property, who says they are in the process of hiring a new crew to finish the job.

Contractors moved barrels and barricades along interstate work sites Friday to help accommodate Memorial Weekend traffic. The Indiana Department of Transportation mandated that there be no work in construction zones over the holiday weekend and Indiana State Police will be closely monitoring those sites.
