Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler, along with other Hoosier mayors, testified before a House committee this week – regarding the growing menace of methamphetamine. The House is considering a bill – passed by the Indiana Senate – that would put more restrictions on the sale of pseudoephedrine, an over-the-counter cold medicine sometimes used in meth production. Tyler says he isn’t optimistic about Indiana solving its meth problem without action at the Statehouse. The mayor suggested lawmakers should consider making pseudoephedrine a prescription medication. Other spoke to the fact that meth is draining their communities of finances, resources and man-hours.
