Former Prison Guard Sentenced In Trafficking Case

An ex-guard at the New Castle Correctional Facility accused of smuggling controlled substances to inmates has been sentenced to time already served in the Henry County jail.
Richard Eugene Rice of Modoc had pleaded guilty to trafficking with an inmate and possession of marijuana. Rice will spend slightly more than 600 days on probation.
