GPS To Save 300K Annually For DelCo Sheriff’s Dept.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office last week began a new GPS-based program that confines some lower-level offenders to their own residences which, in turn, frees up more space at the 220-bed Delaware County jail. Jail officials hope the new GPS system will allow them to completely eliminate the need to house its inmates in other facilities, which could save the county about $300,000 a year.
